Dr. Reit has assembled a team of dental professionals to take care of all your dental concerns.  We pride ourselves in being associated with both a board certified periodontist and endodontist for more than four years.  This allows us to treat root canals, perform root canal surgeries, placement of implants and perform periodontal surgeries in house.  This makes it easier for you to obtain comprehensive dentistry in a single location with a connected dental team.  Our hygienists strive to educate you on your dental health in addition to cleaning your teeth. Our goal is for you to feel better about yourself after being in our practice.  

We understand you have questions about your dental care and the costs involved.  We will always inform you of all treatment options and the advantages and disadvantages of each type of treatment. We will also inform you of all fees before beginning any procedure, allowing you to make an informed decision of what works best for you. 

 

Your First Visit

We’re glad you’re coming to see us but you may ask: What will happen on my first visit?

Emergency Visit

Obviously you have a tooth or gum problem, that’s why you scheduled your appointment and that’s what we are going to address.  Once we have your medical history we will listen to what you have to say.  You’ve been evaluating the situation especially if you’re in pain.  We will then look in your mouth, take any necessary x- rays and evaluate your situation.

Once we have determined what your challenge is we will present alternate treatments to resolve the situation and the price points to accomplish what you have chosen.

If you are in pain we will get you out of pain before commencing with these discussions by numbing the area.  It is much easier to listen and decide on treatment options when you are not in pain.

Routine Dental Check Up Visit

After welcoming you into the practice we will listen to why you have come in.  Hopefully, you only want an examination and dental cleaning.  We will look in your mouth and evaluate your dental health.  We will also take any necessary x-rays to help us evaluate your dental condition.

Most patients have a pretty good idea of what is going on in their mouths so there are generally no surprises.  In our practice we believe in conservative dentistry doing the minimal treatment to resolve any situations and to keep your mouth healthy.

We will also do an oral cancer screening which is quick and painless that can detect cancerous or abnormal tissues.  We check the lips, tongue, gums, throat and surrounding tissues for any unusual changes.  Oral cancer when caught at an early stage is highly treatable.

If all looks good we will do a dental cleaning making you and your teeth happy.  During your professional cleaning we will be using instruments to remove plaque and tartar build up that regular brushing and flossing cannot reach or remove. We will also check you gum health to prevent future periodontal problems from occurring.

If we find any situation that needs to be addressed we will present alternatives to resolve the situation and the costs involved.  We will have already checked your dental insurance before your arrival so we know what they will pay and your patient portion for any procedure.

Most individuals do not like coming to the dentist and the costs involved to resolve any dental challenges.  If as a child you had a negative experience at the dentist this carries over to adulthood sometimes leading to painful situations since they avoid going to the dentist till there is a crisis.

We take dental anxiety seriously, and will proceed slowly at your comfort level to achieve the dental health you deserve.  We strive to give painless injections since once you are numb and not feeling anything dental treatment is much more tolerable.  It probably is not as enjoyable as going out to a Broadway Show and dinner but healthy teeth lead to a much more enjoyable life.

Over the years we have found that when patients first come into the practice they may have some dental challenges they’re aware of and once resolved over the ensuing years exams and cleanings are all they will need.

Oral Cancer Screenings

What is oral cancer?

Oral cancers can develop in the mouth or surrounding areas including the lips, tongue, cheeks and floor of the mouth and throat?  It's part of a broader category of cancers called head and neck cancers and can affect anyone though certain risk factors can increase the likelihood of developing it.

During all exams and emergency exams we will do an oral cancer screening because it’s that important.

The American Academy of Oral Medicine says oral cancer is often not painful in its early stages which is one of the reasons it can go unnoticed without regular screenings.  An estimated 60 thousand cases were diagnosed in 2025

What to watch out for:

Changes in color or texture of your gums, cheeks or tongue

New or persistent sores

Anything new which feels different than usual

Something that is not resolving within two weeks of you noticing it
